Capturing a Memory: A Personal 3D Scan of My Family

Tonight I decided to use my 3D scanner for something a little more personal. Instead of an inanimate object, I scanned my wife and kids as they relaxed on the sofa.

The setup was simple: the Creality Otter, its wireless bridge, and my Galaxy Fold 7. The entire scanning process took only four minutes, which included a second pass to ensure maximum detail was captured. While the room’s layout prevented me from scanning the back and sides, the resulting model was exceptionally clean and required very few corrections.

I was incredibly impressed by the Otter's performance in a casual environment. It flawlessly captured the soft texture of the sofa and the intricate folds in their clothing, even with just average indoor lighting.

This has instantly become one of my favourite scans. It’s more than just a 3D model; it's a frozen moment of our home life, a personal keepsake preserved in three dimensions.

  1. Great scan of the family! Will you be showcasing the Creality Sermoon S1 on people and statues anytime soon?
